2X protocol - Bi directional audio and improved graphics

Hi,

We are looking to move off Citrix to an alternative that can offer bi directional audio and improved graphics/video compared to standard RDP. I m assuming 2X uses native RDP rather than its own proprietory protocol such as ICA or RDP enhanced so cannot offer bi directional audio or accelerated graphics etc?

If this is the case has anyone used a third party add on to overcome these limitations?

These limitations are solved in Remote Desktop Protocol 7 (RDP) as MS introduced :

Direct 2D & Direct 3D 10.1 application support
Multimedia enhancements : Media Foundation support\DirectShow support
Bi-directional audio support

 

thank you for the response, the only issues i have with RDP v7 is it requires Windows 2008 R2 whilst we (due to application limitations) are forced to remain on windows 2003 standard R2 until the applications catch up, so it would be fair so say that 2X cannot address bi directional audio and video performance limitations in RDP v6 or whatever it is?

has anyone got any experience of any third party add ons that may address this functionality shortfall?

Can anyone reply to pearsondan99?? As we are also looking for an update and have many clients still running good old dependable Win2003 servers.
