Cannot tell if I really dared to hope Garmin GPS would be running under the new 3186 release...
In reality my Garmin Quest is (as before) not being recognized by Win XP SP2 running under Parallels. This applies to MapSource City Navigator Europe v8 as well as to the Garmin web updater tool.

Anybody out there who was more successfull than me?

    Nope,

Actually when I try to have my Garmin Quest recognized by my Mac, I can see error messages in the OS X console complaining about the Quest not being compliant with standard USB protocol.

Since the Mac Book Pro diagnosis the quest as a bad USB device, it doesn't work in my parallel either.

Have you checked your OS X console?

By the way, the quest is still being recognized properly by my XP laptop, but of course, it uses the Garmin drivers, which probably compensate for the non-standard USB.

And before I hear screaming, my linux laptop also informs me that there is a problem with the USB protocol when I plug in the garmin into it.

    Garmin / Parallels

No...... I got the VM to BRIEFLY recognize my 60CS when I was running RC 2. I didn't know how lucky I was:) ; I was whinning because I couldn't get Google Earth to work with the GPS so I called the tech support line. The tech guy to me that the next release (RC 3) would solve the problem. I couldn't wait... this was GREAT! Well, I loaded RC 3 (I'm now up to build 3186) and haven't had USB support since. I've just about given up. As a short term work-around, I downloaded GPSBabel which is a bit cumbersome, but it does get my data from the unit to the software; both MapSource and Google Earth.

I'm hoping since they seem to be releasing new versions of Parallels once a week :) that next week we'll see the version that works.

    Garmin and 3186 works

I'm happy to report that I have full functionality with a Garmin GPSmap 60CSx :)
Prior versions of Parallels had the same non-recognition of the receiver via USB as everyone else described. But when I loaded build 3186 with WinXp it worked perfectly, including downloading of maps and waypoints, and updating the receiver software.
