see http://forum.parallels.com/post50269-6.html for context, but the summary is that i was unable to install the 3188 parallels Tools on any of my VMs that had an NTFS hdd. (which you'll note is a nice way of saying that the upgrade to 3188 f'd me up royally) i found an old backup where the C: drive is still FAT, and the Tools installer seems to have worked. Is this a known issue? it seems a very strong restriction; i need NTFS for work -- is it true that 3188 is incompatible with NTFS? 1970 worked fine with NTFS for months .. thanks, eddi
My VMs are NTFS and Parallels Tools installed just fine after I turned off McAfee's security software.
I've only ever used NTFS for my .hdd files; Same goes for Boot Camp. Out of 8 user installs (all NTFS), I've only had 1 instance of not being able to un/install Parallels Tools. That was after upgrading a VM from 1970 to 3094 (Beta). I was unable to resolve via Safe Mode method, and had to create a new VM (due to time-constraints).
