    After two days, which included about 4 hours of phone support from Parallels, I finally have 4.0 installed and working.

    I now have an annoyance when operating in Coherence Mode. I launch Windows XP in coherence mode and it creates a phantom window up in the left hand corner of the screeen. It's a functional window, in that, I can click on visible icons and they launch the appropriate application. It can not be resized nor closed.

    Within this forum, I found this identical issue from a member who is/was running V3.0. He hasn't had any comments or suggestions concerning this issue. He did state that he could close/remove the phantom window by switching to Full Window view and back to Coherence. I tried that and I get the same result. I haven't used it long enough to see the the phantom window re-appears or only appears on launch.

    Screen Shot

    I tried to upload the .png screen shot but it wasn't allowed due to size.
    The screen shot doesn't show the true picture. The screen shot produced an image of the Phantom window only; it did not show the rest of the desktop which is the Mac portion of the desktop in coherence mode.

    I don't know if there is a way to take a screen shot in Mac mode. I used the "Make Screenshot" drop down under the Virtual Machine tab.

    Also, if I switch out of Coherence Mode and then back using either Full Screen or Window mode the Phantom goes away and does not reappear.

    Could you please lower resolution and check is it still there, set to 1400x900
    if problem is there please submit report from Parallels Desktop - Help menu -selecting Report a Problem, and post here report ID

    I sent two error reports - 22154 and 22156. I sent two because I didn't notice that Primary OS Screenshot wasn't checked when I sent the first one.

    Sorry I didn't state that I tried changing the resolution and it had no effect.

    Also, I discovered Modality view. The phantom window, maybe coincidentally, appears to be the same size except none of the controls (resize, open, close) appear.

    I'm just wondering is there a conflict between Modality and Coherence modes?

    Hm, it seems to me problem is actually in video card which is not releasing memory,
    btw, do you have any related video software, drivers?

    Not sure what you mean or where to look for other video drivers.

    hard to investigate further without logs, create ticket in support and in second post submit

    * an XML file with a copy of system profile: Applications --> Utilities --> System Profiler --> File
    * Guest OS full version with SP included (if they are);
    * From /Users/<username>/Documents/Parallels/<VM name>.pvm -CTRL+CLICK -select Show Package Contents
    - config.pvs
    - prallels.log
    * /Library/Preferences/Parallels (right click on folder --> Create Archive)
    * /Library/Logs/panic.log
    or ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/ from the Mac side;

    Also please submit report from Parallels Desktop -> Help Report Problem and let me know report ID.

    Thanks for the effort to solve this.

    For now, I think I'll just live with this glitch and hope some future Build will resolve it.
