I'm having a problem with networking.

Everytime I open my Windows XP VM, I am unable to access my network shares.

The Parallels NAT & Parallels Guest show the status of no IP address in the Network system preference.

I click on advanced and then renew IP address and then the status changes to connected, then I am able to access my network shares.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Parallels and still it happens.

    Any ideas?

I had this happen, but was able to get it fixed. I also was having an issue with Windows XP hanging as it shut down. I ended up following the steps outlined here:
    http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?p=87017#post87017
and was able to get it working ok. I still am not able to open the Parallels Tools applet in XP, but it is installed and appears to be working ok. My network is back and the hang on shutting down XP has gone away. This is with 5160 on a MacPro.

I've tried that and still it happens.

    Anyone else have any ideas?

Switch your network device to the physical adapter

To resolve those connectivity issues in Parallels 3.0 under Leopard I switched my network adapter in Parallels from "Shared Networking" to "Ethernet adapter" or "Airport/Wireless adapter" (based upon you networking setup). That resolved connectivity and printing issues for me.

That doesn't resolve the issue for shared networking, I'm happy to use any of the physical adapter options and they work ok, but they require access to either a router or DHCP server.

My problem is that shared networking, when using parallels running Windows XP, does not work, unless I renew the IP address of the 2 Parallels network adapters prior to starting the VM.

I will point out that this worked perfectly well in tiger.

I too am having the same problem with being able to use shared networking. I can't connect in Windows. I use an Air Card with Verizon. It worked perfectly well with Tiger. I just installed Leopard 3 hours ago. Odd thing though: Check this screen shot.... I don't know what is going on here. I use this machine on the road, so help would be very much appreciated.

It would be good to hear the advice of the Parallels team, do they look on here?

I had to ask just to make it clear.
Could you please reboot your Mac and right after it open Terminal and print "kextstat | grep parallels" (w/o quotation marks). There will be a list of daemons - what are they?
And do you have some software installed that can block Parallels daemons? Keyspan or something else?

    Best regards,
    Alicia.

    Thanks for your prompt reply.

    The daemons are

    com.parallels.kext.ConnectUSB (3.0.0)
    com.parallels.kext.Pvsnet (3.0)
    com.parallels.kext.hypervisor (3.0)
    com.parallels.kext.vmmain (3.0)
    com.parallels.kext.Pvsvnic (3.0)

Don't have anything that I know of blocking daemons

Please, check Parallels Desktop preferences -> tab Network.
Could you please attach a screenshot of it?

    Best regards,
    Alicia.

Has anyone been able to resolve the networking problem ?

I have Leopard with Boot Camp Windows installed.
I can boot into windows via Parallels, but network connections in Windows don't work- no internet connection, no shared Mac folders, no IPCONFIG settings.
The first time I opened the Boot Camp in Parallels the networking worked but never since.

I have tried these fixes but still not working.

I have a Windows image that loads and works fine in Parallels.

my computer is doing the same thing. I had no problems until I installed 10.5.1. Then it all went downhill. Networking is a problem. It says Self Assigned IP in the network control panel. If I use the restart command, Parallels beachballs when I try to click the "Play" button on my VM.

Where does one get the beta? I'd like to try something that may work vs. something that doesn't work at all.

    Hello,

marco114, information about beta 5540 is here.

iBecks, could you please check the configuration of the NAT: System preferences->Network->Choose Parallels NAT. Click "Advanced" (or "Configure") and check the tabs there. It would be more useful if you could attach screenshots of them, especially if the TCP/IP tab.

    Best regards,
    Alicia.
