Accessing Files

Discussion in 'General Questions' started by Parallels User, Aug 3, 2010.

  1. Recently I was trying to copy files from my parallels desktop virtual Windows 7 computer to an external hard drive, but my 13" MacBook Pro crashed about 2 minutes into the operation (I have about 40GB of data). Ever since this instance, I have been unsuccessful in booting up my virtual PC, and therefore I cannot access some very important files on the virtual computer. Is there any way that I can access the files on my virtual PC's hard drive?

Go in the Parallels Desktop Help menu and type mount. The first option you should see is "Using Parallels Mounter". Try that.

You could also try repairing your Windows 7 using the Windows 7 installation CD. Boot your VM with the CD in the drive (make sure your VM includes a CD device and that the boot order has CD first).
