I had a demo version of Parallels Desktop 5. Installed it, XP, a bunch of programs and all was well.

    Purchased Activation Code.

Entered Code ok.... Under "About Parallels Desktop" it says it's registered to me.

Go to my Parallels Account online and all is good.... info is correct.

From within Parallels go to Help->Register Product
Box comes up and I put info.
    Get this message:

    Unable to register Parallels Desktop.

This copy of Parallels Desktop cannot be registered because it was activated with an invalid product key. Please contact the Parallels support team for assistance.

Called tech support with my new Parallels Desktop Support Code in hand

Spent way too long explaining this to someone I could hardly understand.

Put me on hold multiple times.

Told me he was going to escalate this to a higher level.

Waited a long time and was finally hung up on.

Does anyone have a clue why I might not be able to register from within the program that was successfully activated?

And here I was going to buy this for clients machines but after this, what seemed to be pretty straight forward, fiasco I'm hesitant. And they have the nerve to want you to pay for support at that high amount after 30 days? Can't believe it. My own fault.... should have explored support options before purchasing.... but the product performed and still performs ok..... just not registering so I can get updates?

Can you manually download updates and just install them?

    Any help greatly appreciated!

    Hi crickbob,
have you been provided with support ticket #? If yes, please post it here and I'll take a look. If you don't have support ticket yet, you can create one for Parallels sales representatives here . In Category, please specify 'Customer Support and Licensing (Consumer & SMB)' option. This issue can be hardly solved on forum - too many details are required.
