Is there any way to adjust the time-out when re-connecting to a VDI session? Resuming from saved state may take as long as 30 seconds for VMs with 4GBs of RAM, and the client times out with Code [02/00000005] A specific machine was not found before the VM is ready. Any solution apart from running everything off striped SSDs?

Yes you can do the following on the client:

    1. Click on Connection properties from the toolbar
    2. Go to Advanced settings tab
    3. Click on Connection Advanced Settings button
    4. Change any timeouts you require

As always please leave a not if you solve your issue

    cheers

Unfortunately that does not seem to help. Even when time-out is set to 60 seconds the client returns Code [02/00000005] A specific machine was not found after about 15-20 seconds. On the next connection attempt it works fine, as the VM has now booted up. Any hard limits set here, either in the client or on the server side?

What version of VDS are you using?
What VDI technology are you using?
Please consider testing with the latest beta

8.1.941 on Windows Server 2008 R2. Hyper-V is the virtualization platform.

Will try the 9 beta, is there a beta forum or email address for feedbacks?
