Completed archive/install OS upgrade on Mac Pro 2x2.66 to OS 10.5.5. After this OS upgrade the Mac shows Parallels DT 3.0 build 4560 installed. ( Prior to the upgrade it was installed and working without any problem.)

Attempt to run Parallels now results only in the "Can't communicate with driver" message.

Thus, as proposed in prior related threads, I set about doing a clean uninstall ( per http:/......./4790) intending to follow with a fresh install of 3.0 build 5608. After completing Permissions repair on the Mac OS, I launched the uninstall from the downloaded build 5608 dmg. But this grinds to a quick halt with the message "You do not have Parallels desktop installed on your computer."

( No McAfee or Symantec. No problems with any other installed software (so far) since the OS Archive/Install ).

Please help! I need to get this resolved urgently.

    Thanks,

    Stan Katz

    1. Open Finder and go to Macintosh HD -> Library -> Receipts
    2. Find "Install Parallels Desktop.pkg" file and delete it.

    John:

    Thanks for your response.

There was no "Install Parallels Desktop.pkg" file in Macintosh HD -> Library -> Receipts. ( Subsequent spotlight search found no file of that name anywhere.)

I'd be deeply grateful for further advice. I can neither run, nor uninstall Parallels at this point.

Could it be relevant that the currently installed 3.0 build 4560 was (directly or indirectly) a direct upgrade from 2.x? (Downloaded upgrade file was 197641-3478/parallels desktop.dmg.)

Did you try to run installer instead of uninstaller, just do not forget to eject 4560 CD(if it is on CD or unmount dmg), from CD/DVD

No, I didn't. (Wasn't sure whether there were risks in doing so.) If I run an installer now, should it be the build 4560 installer (i.e. pre OS 10.5) or the current build 5608 installer?

    Thanks,
