An error occurred while accessing the hard disk 0

    I have a few Windows 7 VMs running on Parallels on my MBP (OS X 10.8.4), latest version of Parallels.

    Last week one of my VM threw up this error...

    An error occurred while accessing the hard disk 0 used by <Computer Name>

    Error ID: PRL_ERR_DISK_WRITE_FAILED (80021027), errno=5 (input/output error)​

    I tried to mount the VM's disk separately to recover my data but it's encrypted so it seems that's not possible!

    Then, just now, another of my W7 VMs has failed with exactly the same error (this one doesn't have an encrypted disk).

    I've error checked my host (MBP) hard disk and it's error free and there's plenty of disk space available on it.

    Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

    When I restart the VM I get the equivalent read error...

    Error ID: PRL_ERR_DISK_READ_FAILED (80021029), errno=35 (Resource temporarily unavailable).
