I'm setting up my Mac Pro to run as part of a PC driven renderfarm. I have 8 cores to play with. Initially I assigned 6 to the VM (Windows 7 64 bit). But I'm just wondering whether I mightn't as well give it all 8. The only thing that gives me pause is that at the beginning of a render, the VM needs to pull down several megs of data: should I keep cores free mac-side to speed this network traffic? Secondly, if I give the VM 8 cores, and then want to use the mac for something else, will it be unusable? Am running Parallels 5. Thanks!
