    Hi all,

I am going to start testing 2X after recent failures with Xenapp.

I was wondering (as this is a test project) whether i can run an virtual app all from within our domain on a Ipad/mobile device.

I was planning on doing this by logging in via VPN on the Ipad and then trying to get a valid connection that way to launch an application.

Does anyone know if this has been tried/tested and whether it works?

do you mean you are trying to connect to a 2X Gateway through a VPN connection? If so, yes that would work.

As long as the server you are trying to connect to is reachable, it will work

Woqz is right - it works fine, but even if we are in the wrong user to user support forum I do wonder about the failures with XenApp. Sure, XenApp is a very complex solution when you compare it to the 2X AS and when it comes to the installation and configuration, but it's also longer on the market than anything else and should work quite well.

If you list down the needs of your testing project as well as your location (country) we may be able to list down the easiest solutions matching your needs that you should give a try.

    Kind Regards,

I managed to get it working within 2X and it looks quite good albeit a little slow sometimes.

The aim of my project (here in the UK) is to get our custom software to be displayed on a ipad/mobile for when users are away from the desk. Just to view simple statistics almost like a dashboard type of program.

The only risk with 2X is that this software holds very sensitive information and due to the terminal session the app creates i don't think its quite as secure as XenApp.

I did look down the road of mobile optimisation but thats far too costly.

Yes, 2X does have quite a nice solution for your use case. IMHO it's cost effective regarding the licensing as well as regarding the installation and running maintenance (the needed human ressources).

If you use the 2X solution in conjunction with the web portal as well as the secured gateway and maybe also add the freeware '2X SecureRDP' to your TS environment you should have the security that you are looking for.

Ok Great i do like 2x so will take a look into those two additional tools to enhance the protection.
