Any one else having problems with ArcGIS Explorer running in Parallels? (This is a virtual globe sort of like Google Earth that runs only in Windows). Sounds like maybe it works if you set up Parallels to work from a BootCamp installation. See: http://www.ogleearth.com/2006/12/run_arcgis_expl.html But with the standard Parallels installation (as a virtual .hdd), all I get is a white globe. Or sometimes the imagery with large patches of white. Some details: Mac Book Pro 2.6 GHz (early 2008 model) 4 GB RAM, 512 MB VRAM Mac OS X 10.5.2 Leopard Parallels Desktop for Mac v3 (build 5584; with directX support enabled) Windows XP Pro SP2 .NET framework 2.0 SP1 ArcGIS Explorer 9.2 build 450 Any advice appreciated. Thx. William.Manley@colorado.edu
Has there been any update to this. I've tried several options to get ArcGIS working properly with Parallels with no solution.(Mar 2011) Same issue, the application does not refresh the map screen at all (Stays white) iMac OS X v 10.6.6 2,8 Ghz i7 8 GB memory Windows 7 allocated 2 Gig of memory Seems that Parallels passes all the ArcGIS performance tests besides the video. Any help would be appreciated.
manleyw and JamieK, I'm a student learning ArcGIS, so I'm not pressing it to it's limits; but it is working for me. I'm running MacBook OS X 10.6.6, 2 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4GB Ram w/ 2GB allocated to the VM, Windows XP, Parallels 6.0.11994, in coherence mode, ArcGIS 9.3. You might try switch to full-screen or window mode; that sometimes reveals dialogs that are not visible (for whatever reason) in coherence-mode.
