How do I keep the toolbox icon on my upper menu bar? It disappears after use of one its apps and I must reopen toolbox from an icon on the lower Dock.
How to restore the Parallels Toolbox icon in the macOS Tahoe menu bar If you've enabled the "Show in menu bar" option in Parallels Toolbox settings but the icon still doesn't appear, macOS Tahoe most likely has it blocked at the system level. Tahoe introduced a new permission layer that lets you control which third-party apps are allowed to place icons in the menu bar, and apps can end up disabled there without your knowledge. To fix it: Open System Settings. In the left sidebar, select Menu Bar. Scroll down to the Allow in the Menu Bar section at the bottom. This list contains every third-party app that has requested to show an icon in the menu bar. Find Parallels Toolbox in the list and turn its toggle on. The icon should appear in the menu bar immediately. If it doesn't, fully quit Parallels Toolbox (⌘Q) and launch it again so it can re-register the icon with the system. If you use Bartender (or a similar menu bar manager): the icon may be hidden rather than missing. Open Bartender → Settings → Menu Bar Items, locate Parallels Toolbox, and move it to the visible section. If Parallels Toolbox isn't in the "Allow in the Menu Bar" list at all: the app hasn't registered with the system yet. Quit and relaunch Parallels Toolbox, then check the list again.
Hello, PavelE, Thank you for your suggestion. However, I am running Catalina and not Tahoe on my mac. I'm not sure what you mean by System Settings. There is System Preferences but I am not finding Menu Bar or any option for Allow in the Menu Bar under System Preferences - no "Allow in the Menu Bar" list. Parallel Toolbox will open when I click the icon on the dock. It will appear on the menu bar and then close as if it times out. This occurs in well less than a minute. I'm afraid I am also not finding the "Show in menu bar" option in Parallels Toolbox settings which I assume would be under Toolbox preferences - I find nothing actually listed as "settings'.
