Auto-check for updates does not work

I have Parallels 4.0.3540 on several Macs.

I have the option to automatically check in the background for updates weekly.

However, I have only just discovered today that a newer version has been out for almost a month now and none of my macs notified me about the update.

is this a known bug?

Please download the latest build 3810 from the link given below:

The new build has a SmartInstall feature in which the installer checks for the available updates before installing
Parallels Desktop and installs it.
