    hi all,
I have 2 offices each of them in other location / city. Connection between offices in through Internet (cable provider / broadband)
Main offices have the 2x AppServer installed.
What is the bandwidth necessary for 1 client for a good connectivity to the main offices?

    thanx in advance

    Hi there,

RDP is know to work with very low bandwidth, even with dialup ...

Unfortunately, with RDP, you cannot state exactly the best bandwidth required as the bandwidth required, changes with what it is being done with it (Animation require much more bandwidth then notepad).

An important factor apart from bandwidth is latency. High latency networks, are not the ideal networks for RDP.

Sorry for not giving a direct answer but it is not a simple question and my best advisee is to give it a try with the apps you will be running and judge the system your self.

    Nixu

    bandwidth requirement is important

It also very important to know how much bandwidth will 2X Windows TS consume? Because it will be needed to plan the right network infrastructure. It cannot be just trails and errors. Investment in Network Infrastructure has to plan ahead along with solution.

For example, under "Citrix" it will consume around 20-40 Kbps per client connection. Under plain Windows Terminal Server will consume around 40-90 Kbps.

If we plan to connect 10 Clients under Citrix, then we will need at least 512 Kbps. If we plan to connect 10 Clients under plain Windows Terminal Server, then we will need at least 1 Mbps. Then we can calculate whether we need more bandwidth for something else or not.

If we cannot draw any assumption on 2X, then how can we plan our infrastructure. Network bandwidth is relevant to how we adjust TOC on Thin Client Solution. For if we spend too much on bandwidth, it may not justify. If we spend too little on bandwidth, real work may not be adequate productivity.

So, I think 2X should provide information on this regard.
