Sorry for the rudimentary nature of these...new at the VM thing-

I was using VMWare with XP and was having alot of issues. Last night I uninstalled Fusion and installed Parallels. Already it's working better (no "ghost" images...I can actually quit the on-online app I need for work without con.alt.del). When I installed it I had to insert the Windows disc again. So...is Windows now on my hard drive twice and hogging tons of space? If so, how do you get rid of one of the copies?

I have to change 3 computers here at the office and if there's a way to tell Parallels to use the XP that's already on my computer it'd save the 30" of Windows load-time.

    Thank you

Yes, it seems that you now have two Windows installations. Parallels Desktop virtual machines are located by default under Documents/Parallels/ folder and have .pvm extension -- delete this file if you want to delete the virtual machine.

You can use Parallels Transporter to transform your VMWare virtual machines into Parallels Desktop ones, no need to install Windows anew. But please make sure that you uninstalled _all_ VMWare services and tools before migrating.

For more info see Parallels Transporter user guide

I already erased VMWare's virtual machine using their uninstall command, and now have Parallels VM running fine. Is there a way to know if the XP that the VMWare was using is still there (and can be erased) to free up space?

Or did the uninstall allow for over-write of that 'copy' of Windows?
