I have a 1 TB hard drive that has 2 partitions, one for my OS X install and one for my Windows 7 Bootcamp which I am running parallels, and I want to move to a 2TB partition and am wondering what the best solution might be to clone my Windows partition to move it to the new drive. I will be using Carbon Copy Cloner for the mac partition.

I am assuming I need to partition the new drive, then use bootcamp assistant to make the new bootcamp partition, and then use something like Casper from within windows to clone the windows 7 partition? Can I run that while just running in parallels? I am assuming I can.

I see that people used to use a program called WinClone on the mac side, but it seems to have been discontinued, and was never updated to work with Windows 7.

Thanks for any help you can give me, it is appreciated.

    Hi,

There is another way how to do that. You may simply import Boot Camp Partition to regular virtual machine. Start Boot Camp Based Parallels Machine, go to File > Import Boot Camp... and you will get an independant virtual machine file.

Thanks, I didn't realize it could do that. That is a great solution. Am doing that as we speak, and then can replace the drive after I have cloned tonight.

Try to get an independant virtual machine file to fix this.

    Then what

I originally only used Windows in Boot Camp, but then imported it to Parallels. Occasionally, I will boot directly to BC, but usually I go through parallels. I also have imaged the drive via Winclone. Luckily, I found a download. Great program, but it doesn't work in Lion. I want to make sure I clearly understand the procedure above.

    (1) Import Boot Camp partition (have already done that)

    (2) How do you restore it to a new Boot Camp partition?
