I would love to see users share their experience using security software on their Macs for both OS X and Windows. There are very few posts in the forum that even mention Bitdefender which is one of the top products. One way to interpret this is that it works so beautifully that diving in with great speed is the way to go. Or is it that no one bothers with security software for their Windows guests? That just does not seem right. And a very key question... is there anyway to have security software running and working without severing or isolating the Windows Guest from OS X?
Hello Pam1, Parallels Desktop for Mac runs guest OS in the special virtualized environment that emulates an entire computer. This virtualized computer is as vulnerable to viruses as a usual PC running Windows. We highly recommend you to have antivirus (AV) software installed in the guest OS. The recommended antivirus software for Parallels virtual machines is Kaspersky Internet Security. The reason is it will not conflict Parallels Services between Mac and Windows. Whereas we cannot guarantee you that the other antiviruses installed in Windows automatically. NOTE: do not run multiple antivirus software in one OS: system performance will be significantly decreased due to AV software conflict. Thanks!
