Black boxes around game graphics

Hi there,

I'm trying to install quite an old game (Simon The Sorcerer 3D) on parallels but when I run it i get black boxes around some of the graphics and you cant highlight anything in the title menu. It says it requires Direct x 7 so shouldn't be a problem should it? I'm using windows xp and have tried various compatibility modes. This game worked fine on our old XP machine. How do I fix this?
