I'm running OSX 10.7.5 on a MacBook Air.
A few weeks ago I updated PD7 and afterwards when I started up the Win7 VM I would get a black screen with a smaller system command line window with a blinking underline cursor. Nothing I typed did anything. I was unable to close the command line window. I was also unable to restart, suspend or pause the virtual machine. Essentially all I could do was shut down PD.
Today I decided to upgrade to PD8 to see if that would solve the problem. The installation went smoothly.
When I started the VM after the upgrade I got a small window saying it was installing Parallels Tools. This stopped at 3% and said I would have to restart Windows to finish Parallels Tools installation, while a note down at the bottom of the screen said the current version of Parallels Tools was outdated and I would have to upgrade manually or automatically. The message in the window changed to "Canceling Parallels Tools installation...", but hung there for 15 minutes. Again I could not shut down or restart the VM so I had to shut down PD. When I restarted it resumed the VM, but I get nothing but a black screen.
    What to do?

    Thanks,
    Ted
