    Hi,

i've got a strange problem. Since end of 2008 i can't work with my XP (SP2) installation. I did use Parallels v3, latest build (5608?) and suddenly i could not see my desktop or taskbar or other things but a black screen instead. Reboot did not help. Update was not available.

The KB told me that this problem occured before and for solving this i need to deinstall the parallel tools in safe mode. Ok, i tried, but safe mode didn't work for me too. The black screen was decorated with some additional windows infos (build version and such things) in top and bottom line. But no taskbar or icons or other things were visible..

Today i've got v4. Installation worked fine. On starting the virtual machine the 'automatic upgrade process' started. On step 1 of 4 i got the message to do a manual upgrade inside windows. But, as before, the only thing i can see is a black screen...

Any ideas how to solve this without doing a clean install?

    Using v4.0.3810 right now.

    Thanks, Nils
