Hi, I'm running a 64 bit windows 7 instance on my mac via parallels. Everything works great and I've installed some pretty meaty applications - office, visual studio etc. When I try and install sqlserver enterprise (64 or 32bit) from either a mac-mounted iso or from the DVD drive I get asked will I give it admin privileges (which I do) then I get a small error window with no text in it at all and the title "SQL Server Setup Bootstrapper". Does anyone know what would cause this please and how to get around it? I've probably installed sqlserver about 30 times before this and never had a problem. Cheers, Tombola
Hi Tombola, Please follow the steps suggested at http://kb.parallels.com/8638 to connect an CD/DVD ISO Image to a virtual machine, try installing sqlserver enterprise (64 or 32bit) and let us know how does it work. You may find more information about installing software in Windows Virtual Machine at http://kb.parallels.com/119310
Great, thanks A LOT for your help. I read the notes then started my windows session then plugged in my superdrive. Before I could change any settings Parallels asked did I want to use it with my mac or my windows session, so I chose windows. Then sqlserver installed first time. Thanks again for the help, and the quick response.
