I installed Bonjour in a Parallels XP partition a while ago, and thought it worked, but went to print yesterday and it didn't work.

My printer is connected to my router via a NIC that is in the printer - and works fine from OS X.

I ran Bonjour for Windows in my XP partition and it saw my wife's printer only. I backed up and looked again, and it found no printer. I checked with my finder and saw my wife's computer - and she never turns off her printer.

How do I resolve this problem?

(Several times I've tried to recommend Bonjour to my Windows friends, but I never remember what it's called - "an apple utility with a French name"...)

When this happens to me, I disable my firewall and Bonjour can see again see the printer.

(For some reason I never get notified when someone in this forum replies to my messages - despite the "instant email notification setting).

I opened a Windows VPN, turned off the firewall, and ran Bonjour. As with the firewall on, it showed my wife's printer for a moment, and then showed no printer at all.

My wife's printer is connected to her iMac. My printer is connected to my router (via its NIC).

I had Bonjour for Windows working just fine until the latest OS X Security Update 2008-002. After that, I couldn't get it working again and had to install networked printers using the Windows native dialog, along with the HP Color LaserJet 8500 PS diriver that Parallels Tools installs for each netowrked printer, regardless of model.
