Boot Camp/Parallels 3.0 up to 4.0

MacBookPro 1.5.6
Had a partition Boot Camp Windows XP Pro SP3
Then installed Parallels Desktop PD3.0. Directed P3.0 to partition – Worked beautifully
Upgraded to PD4.0. Convert and backup of 3.0 VM
Couldn't get it to run. Created new VM through PD 4.0 with my original XP Pro SP3 disk. Activated etc.
Saved the Boot Camp files onto a separate HD to access later, then deleted partition to get more space.
Wanted to get ALL my old Boot Camp/PD3.0 VM settings, files and apps onto new VM. Tried Files/Settings transfer Wizard import. Aimed it at old Boot Camp folder. Has not transferred anything over. How do I get all my old XP settings, files and apps to my new VM??
Can I drop the files into the VM volume?
Should I use Transporter?
