I have a need to boot my Windows XP VM in safe mode. On a native Windows machine, this is done by holding down F8 during the early boot sequence. I presume that on a MacBook Pro, I'd hold down the fn+F8... but try as I might, I can't seem to boot XP in anything other than its usual mode.

    Suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Dave

I was doing this yesterday because I had a virus in my windows VM (don't ask). You have a VERY narrow window of time to hit fn-f8, but it is possible - I did it about 3 times in a row in order to remove said virus.

    Good luck...

I just hit the f8 buttons many times in a row (vs. holding it down) while booting. It worked fine.
