I just updated parallels to the newest build but this problem has persisted for months. Running a macbook pro 2.2 w/4gb ram, OSX 10.5 I had installed a brand new bootcamp/parallels windows xp several months ago and have always had this problem. The bootcamp partition works fine in parallels, no hiccups, no hangs on boot. When I boot to the partition cold, the machine hangs on the color winxp logo and progress bar. I've tried making two hardware profiles, one for parallels and one for cold boot, but that hasn't helped. There are no problems shown in device manager, nothing in the error log. The only thing that seems to help is booting through parallels. Any ideas?
