    My MacBook Pro was purchased on Aug 3, 2007 and was configured with Parallels 4.0 & Tiger OS with Windows XP on a partition created by Bootcamp.

    Upgraded to Parallels 5.0 when it came out, then upgraded recently to Snow Leopard OS with Parallels 6.0, and upgraded XP to the latest version. During this time, the system has operated flawlessly with not a single issue.

    On Dec 11, 2010, the computer was sent in for repair. It was returned to me on Dec 17, 2010

    Since it's repair, I have been dealing with two problems that I need help with both as they are both Parallels related: Please read the following carefully;

    Hardware Overview:

    Model Name: MacBook Pro
    Model Identifier: MacBookPro3,1

    State: Enabled

    On Dec 9th, while working on a client file, the monitor screen suddenly went blue, then black. Later that day, I made an appointment with the local Apple Store @ Northpark Center Mall, in Dallas, TX. They determined that the NVIDA video driver had failed and that since this was built into the main board, the entire motherboard would have to be replaced.

    Since I had sensitive and critical client data on the HD, and since neither Apple or myself could see the screen display, we could not do a backup of the HD. Therefor, I was sent to an authorized Apple repair facility by Aaron Harris, Genious at NorthPark Center Apple store called Micro Center to have the original HD removed and replaced with a temporary HD as they did not do that type of work at this location.

    Upon completion of that operation on Dec 11th, I returned the computer to Apple for repair. The repairs were completed on Dec 17, 2010. All excited and ready to get back to work as this was and remains my primary work machine, I connected the original hard drive which now resides in an external Sata drive housing, and right off, the computer recognized both the Apple and the XP partitions. I also discovered that Apple had replaced the temporary HD with a new HD and loaded the latest Apple OS onto it.

    Problem:

    The Apple partition now mounted in a Sata housing, started up with no issues. But, when I activated Parallels 6.0 to boot up XP, Parallels itself worked fine, but XP would not boot. At first, it could not find the correct HD as it now a Sata IO. It gave me the following error:

    Bootcomap partition "/dev/disk0s3" used by HD 1 is missing.

    After a bit of fussing about, I managed to fix that, but then the 1st of two problems cropped up that I have as yet to resolve. While attempting to once again boot XP, I get the following error:

    Error: PRL_ERR_READ_FAILED (0x80021029) PATH: '/Users/Willie/Documents/Parallels/My Boot Camp.PVM/Fujitsu MHW21608HPL (disk1).hdd

    I fiddled with this for some time, but have as yet to resolve the issue. I contacted Gabe Avendano, Manager of the NorthPark Center Apple store and learned that when they changed the main board out, the MAC address was also changed and that was the root cause, but that the issue was now with the Parallels program and not something that they work on. He suggested that I contact Parallels. I understand the problem now, but do not know what steps to take to correct it.

    The partition is fully accessible to the extent that I can see the files, copy the files, etc., but simply cannot get the partition to boot. And without it booting up, not sure how to change the permissions, etc.
