    Hi.
I'm using the latest beta (5144), and pressing Cmd-H (in either full screen or an OS window) no longer hides Parallels. It has worked in previous builds. I use this constantly, so I'm curious -- is this a bug?

    Thanks.

Try restarting your computer and see if you still have the problem. I'm using build 5144 also and don't have the problem you are describing in OS Window, Full Screen, or Coherence. BTW, this belongs in the beta forum.

Why use a Beta? Get a stable build and see if it happens there.

alicia - i guess i did not make it clear enough above but this problem goes away for a while whenever i restart parallels OR macOS (since that would require parallels restarting as a rule).

it chugs along nicely for a while and then crops us somehow without me able to discern any pattern. its one of those annoying problems that are quite hard to pinpoint.

i've seen worse problems but it can get annoying.

I can second that observation, I'm running 3214 and have the same symptoms. I almost never restart either OS X or Parallels so I am not sure that is needed as a remedy. Totally intermittent as far as I can see.

    Hello all,

the beta forum is already closed so let this thread be here.
Concedrning the issue, we can't reproduce it yet but it seems that cmd+h is working only for an active window and not active ones won't hide. So make sure you press cmd+h for hiding Parallels when they are active.
And it would be really useful to upgrade from beta. It also can be a solution.

    Best regards,
    Alicia.

alicia - thanks for your follow up but parallels as a whole usually hides when things are working well (in both window and coherence modes and full screen modes). in fact i dont think you can individually hide guest OS seperate windows using the macOS command-H key.

the problem persists. let us know when you have any ideas.

    thanks

    Hello,

please, reinstall Parallels - will it solve the issue?

    Best regards,
    Alicia.

Alicia - From a cost/benefit perspective, this problem is not serious enough to warrant the hassle of a reinstall so i will let it be for now. Hopefully in the next upgrade round this problem may resolve itself somehow.

For now a restart of Parallels app helps abate the problem for a while.

On a related note - I have become quite wary with upgrades (even when full post-beta versions) and hold back on installing until I have enough feedback from users especially on these forums. It has been quite journey from version to version with some having major issues while the current one is pretty much in my sweet spot in terms of speed and reliability for now. I will leave good things alone for now (this is something I learnt in my windows days with new OS releases that I had forgotten about in the mac world with the general reliability of the macOS).

Again I thank you for your attention to this matter and wish the Parallels team success with future versions. I was tempted to try VMware's Fusion when I heard it worked smoother but decided to hold back and glad I did with the improvements here. I hope that your team can listen to some more of the advice on these forums and avoid releasing relatively untested features and versions of the app. Avoid feature bloat at all costs in my opinion. I could live without coherence, for example, if it was not perfected whereas the folder sharing is more essential. (substance over style)

    Cheers.P

This has been a problem I've had for a long time. In the last post to the following thread I link to a bunch of other threads about the issue:

    http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?p=76382

Hope this helps! I'm using Build 3214. Not sure which real-world version that translates into.. 2.x? 3.x?
