I upgraded to Build 3214 and have nothing but troubles ever since. I tried repairing the WinXP installation according the instructions here: http://kb.parallels.com/entry/63/336/. My issues initially included a machine that was stuck in suspend mode, that problem was fixed with the help of one of your posters here so I'm hoping that I can find help for my other issue too. When I'm in my WinXP pro VM if I have 2 Windows Explorer windows open and am moving graphics from one shared folder to another, the VM shuts down suddenly and I get a blue screen. I am running Win XP pro without the SP2. Can someone please help!?
Ugh! Windows Explorer keeps terminating on me! If it helps, here is my VM configuration: Memory 512MB Hard Disk1; 51200mb Network Adapter 1; Bridged Ethernet And my iMac Configuration: OSX 10.4.10 2GHz Intel Core Duo 1.5GM 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM Please help!
Could it be I've figured this out for myself? I switched my VM network settings from Bridged Ethernet to Shared Networking and have so far not had any crashes since. If this was a recommendation for the setup of this program, I was not aware of it nor did I find it anywhere in my searches for a resolution to this problem. I hope it fixes my problems and I hope it can help someone else who may be experiencing this problem as well. Thank you for all your help. < /sarcasm >
Me too! I had the same thing happen to me!! I tried what you did and it didn't work. So for anyone else, this is what ended up working for me: In VM configuration I changed the acceleration from High to Disabled: To change the acceleration mode of the VM: 1. Open the VM's Configuration Editor Screen. 2. In the Resources list select Options. 3. Click the Advanced tab. 4. Set the Acceleration level to Normal or Disabled. Good luck! -Raissa
Fercryingoutloud, my fix worked for about 3 days then I started crashing again. Tried raisinkane's fix and that didn't help at all. Is it too much to ask to have a stable program? I paid money for this program, I upgraded and now my investment is worthless, I can't work for more than a few minutes at a time. And not one senior member has answered my question let alone a company representative. Doesn't anyone have a fix for this issue? Are they working on it? Do they care?
Latest attempt... I lowered my VM Memory to 412mb. Seems to have helped, haven't crashed so far in a couple hours now. We'll see if it holds up.
Help? Anyone? I'm looking for help with the exact same error, xntrick. I'm running the same build, 3214. I use Corel Draw (which is unsupported for the Mac) to work from home. I've had to set the Autosave set for every five minutes, because Windows shuts down to a blue screen CONSTANTLY during a work session. There's no rhyme or reason to when it happens. This last time, Corel was the only thing running. I can't find anything online to help me. I've tried increasing the amount of memory allocated for Parallels, but it hasn't helped. Corel is the ONLY reason I need Parallels, and I refuse to spend another $79 to buy the new(er) version. I spent $80 on his one and it should work! Anyone with any other advice? I'm pulling my hair out here! Mel
Mel, I'm sorry you are having the same issues I am. I fear the posters here either don't have an answer, refuse to answer us or they don't care any more than the company does. I hope I am proven wrong.
That does it. I have tweaked and fiddled and waited and hoped for a reply to this thread and an answer to this dilemma. If the forum users, Admins and company are not going to attempt to answer or acknowledge they are working on my problems, there is NO WAY I am spending another minute on this program. I received an offer via email to upgrade to Parallels 3 free which I mailed in but after this experience and the posts I've read about that upgrade, I am through. Even if I have to pay another $80 I'll do it if VMWare is more stable than Parallels. This is rediculous!
