I'm running 10.5.1, 4gb of ram, macbook pro 2.4ghz. The installer hangs right off the bat for me.

    here's the system log...

and here it sits until i finally kill force-quit the Installer process.

    Did you do an uninstall?

If Yes, did you reboot after?

    Try that, and reinstall.

    me too

I have the same problem with Build 5160. I upgraded to Leopard without thinking about its effect on Parallels. I couldn't launch - I got a message stating I was missing a driver that was preventing Parallels from starting, and to reinstall if it persisted. Now the install just hangs.

Anybody out there that can point us in the right direction?

    Guys,

    Could you try this solution:
While the installer is running open Terminal and type:

    cd /Volumes/Parallels Desktop/Install Parallels
    Desktop.pkg/Contents/Resources

    then

    sudo ./preflight

In case anyone is unable to get Archy's suggestion to work, note that

    should actually be:

thanks - on to the next problem

    Many thanks Archy and brkirch.

I shut down my Mac last night, saw your posts this morning and planned to give it a shot. But the install worked this time (even without the terminal editing). I had rebooted a half dozen times yesterday - who knows what the difference was - I installed 5580.

Now, my next issue is I can't seem to find my original activation key(s) to load my VM (the one email I don't have from Parallels). I bought 2.0, and then the upgrade. At the point my troubles started I was on 5160. Ugh. I sent a note to support hoping for some divine intervention.

Thanks again for your helpfulness. Any magic ideas re: activation key are gladly accepted :)

Just go to the download page and get a trial key until support can get you fixed up with your original.

I'm having the same issue and nothing works. I want to buy Parallels but with this on going issue I'm starting to look at VM Fusion.
