Since installing build 5604, my Vista VM wants to keep reinstalling Parallels Tools. The auto run installer for Parallels Tools comes up each time and the Install Shield begins, but I then get a message saying asking me to restart the Virtual Machine to complete the previous install of Parallels Tools. So then I try to restart and the VM never completely shuts down...Vista gets stuck at the "Shutting Down" screen. And after force quitting the VM, the whole nasty cycle begins again. I tried removing Parallels Tools from Boot Camp and via safe mode, but both tries were unsuccessful. I could use some suggestions. Thanks.
I've done that. Upon booting, I get the message that Parallels Tools are initializing. Then after the boot completes, the exec file wants to run. When I try to run it, the error message says I must restart the virtual machine and if I don't, I won't be able to do anything with Parallels: reinstall, reconfigure etc. So, then when I shut down Vista in order to restart the VM, either the shutting down stalls or it DOES restart, but the restarting makes no difference when I again try to install the Tools. At this point, I've uninstalled virtually all of Parallels Tools and STILL can't get it reinstalled because the symptoms haven't changed - I'm back in the endless loop.
