Can I move the Parallels folder from inside the Documents folder to, say, the root level of my User folder?

If so, is it just as easy as quitting Parallels, moving the one 12 gig folder, and restarting Parallels?

thank you for any advice on this.

Yep, you may have to manually navigate to the .pvs file to open the particular installation the first time, though.

Eru, can you explain that more. I've moved the folder, and now when I start up Parallels, it starts taking me through the whole startup process, including reentering XP registration, etc. Is there some method that would allow me to get Parallels to see where the folder is.

Search for .pvs, then open the file that you find.

I found a simple solution, called SymbolicLinker (http://seiryu.home.comcast.net/~seiryu/symboliclinker.html )which is simply a Unix plug-in that acts as a more robust alias than... an alias. You install the plugin at /Library/Contextual Menu Items. Then, when you right click on any file/folder, it'll appear in the More... menu. So you right-click on the Parallels folder, create a Symbolic Link, drag the Parallels folder to wherever you want it to live, and then rename the Symbolic link exactly "Parallels" (so the program sees it).

by the way, Symbolic LInker works with any file or folder. Not sure where else I'd use it, but there you go.
