i just upgraded to v4, and now my virtual machine pauses itself after a few minutes. this is an enormous point of frustration for me, as every time it pauses i loose my vpn connection and have to re-jump thru all the hoops to get on there. i have searched thru prefs and configuration settings looking for a way to disable this "feature" but have not found anything. am i missing something obvious? please advise!

    thanks!

    just when on battery power

looks like when i plug in my macbook pro it doesn't auto-pause as rapidly. this is great, but i'd still like to be able to turn off the feature if anyone knows how.

    thanks!

Parallels Desktop 4.0 itself doesn't have such feature to automatically pause virtual machine when inactive. Do you mean Windows screensaver/sleep mode? To turn off screensaver right-click (Ctrl-click) on Windows desktop, choose Screen Saver tab and select None from the list. To turn off sleep mode switching under Screen Saver tab click Power and set all the options to Never in appeared window

    wompedy,

Since Parallels Desktop 4 the VM's hardware is fully ACPI-compatible. If after some period of inactivity Windows decides to go to sleep mode - the VM will be paused. Thus, the behavior is controlled by your Windows' power scheme. The idea behind this is power saving - if you're on battery, the VM will pause soon thus saving battery power.

You can control these periods in Start->Settings->Control Panel->Power Options. If you don't want windows to pause anymore, just set "System Standby" to "Never"
