can not print on paper OTHER than 8.5 x 11

I am using version 5 with xp and I am trying to print invitations/announcements on paper that is other than the standard letter size. when using ms publisher, when I print an invitation, I get the message on the printer that the paper size is incorrect....only way it prints is if I put the regular 8.5x11 paper in...please help. thx
