    I was wondering if there is a way to share the MAC Bluetooth Connection in the Windows Guest OS. I have files there I would liek to transfer to my BT phone but I can't see anywhere in Parallels here it allows the guest system to share the BT in MAC? Any help? Solutions?

    Thanks

    Hello Kevin,

    You can use Bluetooth under Parallels starting from the build 5160 but you should install BootCamp drivers on your Virtual Machine to make it working.

    With best wishes for a Happy New Year,

    Thanks for the reply, questions:

    Where do I get the Boot Camp Drivers? Apple?

    When I install the drivers and want to use them with the guest OS I what happens to control of my BT mouse and Keyboard? Does it go way to Windows and then how do I get back to dual use (GuestOS and MAC) as it normally is?

    kevinw,

    You get the BootCamp drivers from the BootCamp Set-up assistant which comes from Apple.

    You have to set-up control of the BT mouse and keyboard via Windows, so you will need a USB mouse and keyboard to do the initial config. (Actually, just the keyboard works if you know the shortcuts)

    You hold down option during start-up to have the option of booting into OS X, where you can access Parallels.

    Okay, I started the "Boot Camp" assistant and it appeared that it was starting to set up a Boot Camp partition (which I don't want to do) . Are you saying I have to install Boot Camp to (get) use the Blue Tooth drivers in windows? Or am I missing something in the setup that avoids doing that

    Oh, I got confused by Xenos' post, sorry I didn't read your post first... Bad habit of mine.

    I don't believe that Parallels natively supports interfacing the BlueTooth, I think that there are some hacks lying around for porting the connection through, though.

    Any more help on this. Can I only use Blue Tooth in conjunction with Boot Camp or where do I do get the drivers?

    Thanks

    Hello all,

    Kevin, to install the BootCamp drivers, you should do the following:

    1) insert DVD with Leopard or Drivers for Bootcamp in your Mac;
    2) open My Computer, right-click the Boot Camp DVD and choose Open;
    3) open Drivers folder -> Apple and start Bootcamp installation;
    4) when Bootcamp is installed, restart Windows.

    If you have Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, they will be disconnected from your Mac when you connect them to VM as Bluetooth devices. A single USB device can only be used by one Operating System at a moment of time. Generally Bluetooth mouse and keyboard are recognized by VM as generic mouse and keyboard which lets them to work both in Mac and VM.

    Eru, there are no hacks to make Bluetooth working in VM, it is just connected as USB device.

    Best regards,
    Xenos

    Thanks for the info. Got most all the way through and thought I was on a track for success but alas. I cannot get Windows, using the BT control panel app to discover my ATT Curve 8310. In fact I can no longer get my MAC to see it either. Well it sees it but I never get sent the key code to hook it up.

    On the windows side, once I set everything to discoverable, turn BT on and off (as recommended in the help file) it still sees nothing. I even re-installed (repaired) the drivers.

    Tough stuff getting this stuff to work.

    My bluetooth mightymouse is working fine in XP and Vista VMs on my MacBook Pro, using 5582 (and earlier builds) I have not installed any special drivers, from Boot Camp or anywhere else. The mouse works seamlessly between OSX and Windows.
    But as Xenos said you can only have one BT device at a time, so although I can connect my Treo I have to disconnect the mightymouse first (so I use a Treo lead instead).

    Hello all,

    Kevin, in your VM Configuration Editor choose USB Controller and set it to be connected to Mac OS X.

    Launch Windows, click Devices -> USB in Parallels Desktop menu bar and enable the BT device.

    Best regards,
    Xenos

    Yeah I tried that too, wired keyboard, wired mouse, still no pairing with the phone. Glad I don't have to rely on it.

    Sorry, my reply was to Mike, in advance of getting your instructions. That actually worked!
    Thanks for the help. There is no way I would have ever figured out all these steps to make bluetooth work on the guest O.S.

    no BT USB device

    hi there,

    I just read the complete thread, but the last proposed technique doesn't work for my 3214 build. I have established a BT connection with my Nokia E90 in Leopard, but there just is'n a BT USB Device in Parallels. Any suggestions? Upgrading to a newer parallels build?

    Hello Geert,

    Yes, I would recommend you to take a trial key for Parallels Desktop 5584.

    Best regards,

    Oops :( After an upgrade to the 5584 build, reinstalling parallels tools en restarting everything, still no USB BT device appears in the parallels USB menu. Any suggestions? Geert

    Ok, I found it, I just had to install the bootcamp bluetooth drivers (or perhaps these were already preinstalled?) and then select the parallels USB Apple Wireless menu item to make everything work. Thanks anyway! G
