Can you start Parallels after your subscription runs out?

I know you can't start Windows, but are you usually able to at least open Parallels after your subscription has expired? Mine WAS opening, but now I get an error message. I've tried all the troubleshooting tips (Terminal commands, reinstalling, even reinstalling the OS) and nothing works, So I'm wondering if this is just a by-product of needing to renew.

Parallels Desktop will need to have an active license for it to work. If you have a subscription after it expires you will need to renew or buy a new license else Parallels Desktop will stop working.
