Hi, I am using Parallels 3.0 build 5608 - Mac OS 10.4.11 - Windows XP with Service Pack 3. I am currently unable to boot into Windows. I have not used Parallels for several months - mainly booting either into Mac OS or Windows XP (on my Bootcamp partition) alone. Today I tried to boot Windows with Parallels and received an error message. As Windows XP starts to boot, a message appears stating "autochk program not found - skipping AUTOCHECK" - following this a blue screen appears briefly saying "Fatal System Error" and that the system is being shutdown. Windows XP starts to boot again and the loop continues repeatedly. When I try to boot directly into Windows via Bootcamp, an error message appears stating that a system file is corrupted and needs to be replaced. I have seen this message many times before when I have Parallels has frozen and I have used Force Quit to escape from it. In the past this issue has been easily resolved by rebooting Parallels, shutting down Windows, and rebooting from Bootcamp again. However, since I can't boot Windows through Parallels, the corrupted file cannot be repaired, and I have no way of starting Windows. This problem was occuring before I installed build 5608 of Parallels - and has persisted now that I've installed it. Please let me know what's causing this error in starting Parallels and how I can fix it.
This may be the fix to my problem: http://kb.parallels.com/en/5447 I'm still downloading the update to Bootcamp so I'll have to see if it works. Strangely I had no problems with Service Pack 3 until trying to run Parallels.
