I need to be able to connect to my company's terminal server via Remote Desktop. I am currently running Windows XP as the guest OS on an iMac running Parallels 3.0 for Mac. I followed the directions I followed successfully for a PC laptop running on the same wireless network, which includes a Cisco VPN. I am able to connect to the VPN but still can't access the corporate network. Once IT realized that I had a mac they wouldn't troubleshoot my issue. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I just checked and I cannot access the intranet via IE while the VPN is connected, which I should also be able to do.

I don't know whether this is applicable to your situation, but you might want to test your Remote Desktop Connection by using the newly released RDC client for Mac 2.0 Beta (July 31, 2007 release): http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx?pid=download&location=/mac/download/MISC/RDC2.0_Public_Beta_download.xml

You'd install this, of course, directly in Mac OS X, not in Parallels Windows. It's universal binary and works well with Vista. I've tested it, and it works well for my purposes. But there are far fewer features on this Mac RDC client than on the Windows one: No TS SSL-VPN gateway, no seamless windows, and no network level authentication. Not sure whether you need those features.

Also, have you configured your Parallels Network Adapter to "Bridged Ethernet"? That seems to have helped minimize some of my connection issues, at least.
