    Hi,
It's the first time i use parallels, and i faced one serious problem.

I use an iMac 3.06GHz 4GB Ram MACosX 10.6.1 and Parallels 4 (i just bought them)
I installed completely the Parallels, and after that i installed the Windows XP sp2 (as a virtual machine).
Then i installed the tools without a problem.
In the configuration in network set-up i have tried both Shared Connection and Bridged but with no effect.
I can not be connected to the internet through windows.
I have tried several times to uninstal and reinstal completely parallels and windows, but the problem hasn't be solved.
I would appreciate if you helped me in order to solve the problem.

(i have read an article in forums from a member who had the same problem as me http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=91685)

Thank you for your time , and i wish you reply me because it is very important for me..

    Your's sincerely,
    Aikaterini Zeziou

Please swtich to the Shared Networking mode. Wait for approximately 30 seconds.

Then click Start -> Run and execute cmd.exe. Type in the appeared window command "ipconfig /all". Then, without closing the window, click Parallels Destkop menu "Help"->"Report a Problem", send a problem report (it is not necessary to provide description) and post here the report ID.

Sent you my info as well, as I have a similar though flaky problem where the internet connection seems good but the browser fails to surf. Hope this added info helps shed light on an intermittent (for me at least) and poor internet connection.

I see the message in the system.log:
prl_naptd[177]: __SCPreferencesCreate open() failed: Too many open files

It seems that there is some application on Mac that either fails correctly close files or consumes too many resources.. it is hard to say which one exactly.

It is worh to try the solution from http://artur.hefczyc.net/node/27
start the /Application/Utilities/Terminal and execute next commands:

sudo launchctl limit maxfiles 400000 unlimited
    sudo killall -HUP prl_naptd

Also (may be it is not related to your case) - make sure that there is only one antivirus/Firewall is installed. If you are using Parallels Internet Security, make sure that no other antiviruses are running and vice versa

It's strange. I don't see in the problem report any connection attempt and no errors.

Do you want to try a remote session to look on the problem? Please send me your email via forum's private messages and acceptable timeframe. I'm available 11.00-17.00 UTC
