When trying to do the latest Windows update since Yesterday (may 29, 2024) it will go through the motions of updating but when it restarts the VM to install said Update it causes the VM to crash and have to do a Repair on the Windows OS. Have cleared out caches, did Disk clean, etc to try installing the update again. Still no go.

It's the Cumulative Update preview for Windows 11 23H2 for Arm64 systems

Processor start timeout, then blue screen and roll back to prior version.

Just also had an issue. Downloaded fine but when it was rebooting to run the update, there was an issue about "checking your computer" (or something like that) and then it attempted a "repair" which stopped after a few minutes and the message said something like "undoing the update and returning the computer to the way it was". When Windows 11 restarted, I went to Windows update and it says that I need to restart the computer to complete the update of KB5037853.

Update: no it still doesn't work after I did the recent Parallels update (and installed Parallels Tools again). I even went back to an earlier clone backup of my Windows 11 VM before I attempted this update and unfortunately the result was the same.

I notice the same on my M1 Macbook, though not on my Intel iMac. I am not inclined to give it much attention. Evidently something is wrong with the Arm64 update, but the next one will be along soon enough, and I guess it will be OK.

I'm having the same problem with KB5037853 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 23H2 for Arm64 systems.

When updating from the Settings Panel it will successfully download and install the update. Then upon restart it installs the updates to 30%, stalls and waits a minute or two, then restarts again, jumps into the "Automatic Repair-->Attempting Repair screen (which evidently fails) and then ends up with Windows 11 rolling back and undoing Changes ( guess whatever changes it managed to make before failing). Tried a couple of times with the same result. No error codes were indicated for why the update failed.

Also downloaded KB5037853 directly from Microsoft Update Catalog website and attempted to update that way. Installed fine but upon restart immediately went through the Automatic Repair -->Attempting Repair then Rollback. No error code was indicated.

Has anyone found a way to get KB503785 to successfully install? Or are we just going to hope that when the official cumulative update is issued (not just a preview release) that it will work.

A number of people have already published this problem with this update. You might want to go to MS Feedback hub and enter an error report. This is a known problem for this update.

I also have this on a M2 MacBook Air. I tried a fresh install of Windows 11 and have the same results - failed to install.
