Installed build 1970 and got as far as loading my XP CD. I then get the following message-- . Setup cannot find a previous version Windows installed on your computer. to continue, setup needs to verify that you qualify to use this upgrade product. Please insert your Windows NT 3.51 Workstation, Windows NT 4.0 Workstation, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows 95,Windows 98, or Windows Millennium CD into your CD-Rom drive. Am using win XP Upgrade from 2002. Have recently purchased OS10 20, and still learning, but wanted to try parallels. I purchased parallels at Apple's (yeah, I know) and got the same results descibed above. Then downloaded build-same-same. Any help greatly appreciated; Tony
This is not a Parallels problem but a problem with the install disk you are using. It must be a disk that will upgrade a previous Windows version and it is looking for the previous version to upgrade.
Mac Pro 5GB; I understand what you are saying. I upgraded from win 98 back in ,I think, 02, but the disk is long since gone. Any solutions other than buying WinXP?
You need an install disk from an earlier version. Or try buying an OEM version of a full windows install. This usually costs much less than a retail version.
