Cannot update Parallels for MAC

Hello, I am a Parallels user, running version 4.0.3844. Every week, I am informed that an update is available (I believe the suggested update is 4.0.3846). Every time I try to install it, the Apple Install program falls over without generating an error message. Can anyone help?

I have checked your FAQ section of this website, which suggests downloading the software manually. I notice a parallels version 5 there (which I am downloading). However - as a user of 4.0.x do I need to pay an additional fee?

Any help would be welcomed.
