Hi, I am currently running a very old (localized - German) copy of Parallels 3.0, Build 4560. I would like to upgrade using the update functionnality (and indeed, the update function says there is a new version, build 5584). So I did the obvious, telling the program to upgrade ... at first nothing seemed to happen, but after a (short) while I experienced heavy CPU and it rendered my system into a non-responsive state, I basically had to hard reset my computer. Looks like an end-less loop or so to me. I am running Leopard (10.5.2) on a MacBook Pro (2.2GHz Core 2 duo/2GB RAM version) Anything I can do? Would uninstall of 4560 and install of the downloaded file help (I have read there are activation issues ahead if I do so)? Cheers, Franz
I hope you kept a cloned copy of your original VM file and can run that using your old installation you have hit the Easter break so email Parallels support and they will help you when they catch up with their back log after the holidays A known issue caused by local resellers activationrestrictioons Dowload and make a clean install and get a trial activation key until you get an update and help from support I ma guessing of course not having had exactly the same set up as you the most important thing is the weekly clone of your VM as a back up to an external hard disk and save your data in shared folders only NEVER in My Documents under windows Hugh W

Help needed on how to install Parallels updates Hi, I have some questions on parallels and Windows updates: First, I have downloaded German build 5584 last night and the .dmg file is in my Parallels folder. However, is has not automatically updated as Version still indicates build 5582 . I do not know how to handle these .dmg files. What do I have to do to execute the upgrade? Second, I have somehow moved the parallels Folder to another place. When I do click the application icon in my toolbar, the message occurrs: Configuration error. Check your configuration. Disk image file Users/Roland/Documents/Parallels/XP Knecht/unattended.fdd could not be found. Windows application still starts but the message is annoying. What to do? Third, I have not yet updated to XP Service Pack 3. Reading the problems of other users I hestitated to do so. Is update now stable? Is it needed? Microsoft requires Internet Explorer for update. I have not installed an IE as I am using Firefox. Can I install XP Service PAck 3 with Firefox anyway? How? Configuration: OS X 10.5.2 Mac Book Pro 2,2GhZ 4 MB RAM Thaks for help to get me going again.
