I am using an older version of Parallels (v4). I have tried installing both Windows 95 and Windows 98 on a virtual computer. The installation runs well enough until I get to the part where the computer needs to restart. When the virtualization boots up, it displays a typical splash screen. After a few seconds, the screen goes black and a few lines of text appear:

    While initializing device VCACHE:
Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer.

This error persists no matter how many times I restart, reinstall with a different boot disc image, restart in safe mode, or tweak RAM settings. I have tried everything I could find on the Internet, but nothing has helped. Does anyone know how I can fix this error?

EDIT: I get the exact same error in Windows ME.
