    Hi

I am trying desperately to connect a Mio C520 GPS device to the Parallels VM. Whenever I connect the device, it says "The USB device you're intending to attach to the VM is used by another program. Close the program or reconnect the device" (translated from German).

I have no idea what this means and have no clue what to do to make the connection work.

I have checked /Volumes, and it shows "Mio Device" and even the SD card installed in the Mio separately. Both are not mounted (which I guess is correct as the file system is not known to Unix).
Under /Volumes, the Mio comes up as "Mio Device", while the Parallels VM calls the device "Generic Mass Storage (PROTOTYPE--Remember to change idVendor)" !!!!!

Anybody experienced the same, anybody knows whats going on and has a solution?

    Parallels 3.0 build 5584 (de)
    Windows XP

    Thanks

    Simon

I've had a similar behaviour before. What I did: Disconnect the device. Make sure that under the Mac there is no piece of software (part of that device) which is turned to "automatic connection" once the device is plugged in (similar hot a Palm's Hotsync tool). Start Parallels before connecting the device.

    Solved!

    I have solved the problem.

Solution: Automatic connection by the Parallels VM doesn't do the trick. I needed to tell Parallels (USB driver) to connect to the Windows system ONLY.
    Now works flawlessly.
