When running Outlook 2002 inside Parallels (Windows XP), I can't send email. I've used Parallels Transporter to migrate accounts from old pc to my imac, so email account details are identical. If I use the Test Account Settings in when configuring my email account Outlook sends the Microsoft Outlook Test Message, but never to Outlook in Parallels. If I turn on Outlook in my original old pc it receives the message. If I try and send any other email within Parallels the email just stays in the Outbox. Help!
Any solution? Hi! I have the same problem. Running Outlook 2002 as well (in Guest OS Windows XP on Leopard 10.5 Macbook Air). I have tried four different SMTP servers, no one works. But Outlook Express seems to work. Strange. Did you solve it? The solution I see it to upgrade to a newer version of Outlook and hope that it will work there. BR/Rikard
Hi again! It was a short period of happiness....Outlook Express does not as good as I thought. I works just for one of my accounts. The three other SMTP servers can not be reach. The one that works, communicates via port 2525. The other three, not working ones, is using the standard port 25. Can port 25 be blocked some where? But the accounts with port 25 works from Leopard. But not inside Parallels. So it seems that Parallels is blocking it.... for I am having an evaluation license???? I will purchase a commerical one as soon as I got everything up and running. Make sure antivirus settings allows communication on port 25 I mean in Windows. For example McAffey by default blocks port 25
Hi! Not yet any Antivirus programs installed, and I have checked the firewalls. I will do some more tests. /Rikard
Hi again! It was my fixed-line ISP that was blocking port 25. When I was doing my previous tests, and got it working from Leopard, I was connected via mobile ISP. Sorry for blaming on Parallels! ;-) Here comes a tip to easily do some tests. - Launch a Terminal session in OS X. You find the Terminal app under Applications / Utilities. - In Terminal, enter the command "telnet smtp.yourisp.com 25". (smtp.yourisp.com is an example. You have to specify your SMTP server) - If port 25 is blocked, the command "hangs" or timeout. Quit with CTRL+C. - If free communiction on port 25, you get connected to the SMTP server. Quit by entering the command "quit". One of the SMTP servers was supporting port 26, so I using that server for all my four mail accounts now. BR/Rikard
