Can't see screen and keep Parallels on

New to forum.
Have mac 0s10.7.5
Have Parallels 6.0.12106
Using Windows Professional 7 as virtual machine.
usually use for access to office computer.

Now when I start Parallels a window opens with a striped progress bar saying starting Window 7.1. There is a "Show" button that when clicked opens the parallels desktop with windows open and various applications. After the warm up the window closes and there is a message that says starting coherence. Then the parallels program is no longer on. If I click Parallels on the dock, the Windows start menu shows up and the Prallels program is not on even as I scroll through(command tab) open programs.

This all started when I tried to open an email attachment in the Mail program that was an .xps file. It started opening the small window that I mentioned above-starting Sindows 7.1 with a striped progress bar.

I appreciate any suggestions.
