Hi, I am running parallels (v4) on Mac OsX with a windows xp guest OS. The windows guest OS was a clone from a different parallel's vm. After the clone, I wiped out a bunch of programs that were not required any longer. Despite deleting ~20GB of data, the PVM file still remains at 25GB.

I have tried the Image tool with trying to compress the HDD file without success. Didn't create any visible results.
I defraged the guest OS and then re-ran the compression option within the Image Tool and it actually made the HDD file BIGGER! (by over 1GB!)

    Are there any other suggestions?

    thanks

as mentioned previously, the image tool didn't do jack, and in fact made things worse. I found a post after a lot of digging where someone mentioned you can compact the OS from within the guest OS itself. So I ran a compactor utility in program files\parallels\compression or somewhere around there and it went through a few phases and knocked my 26GB file down to 5.9GB.

hopefully that helps someone else some pain in the future........
