I am trying to run a copy of windows (off a cd, but I have also tryed using an ISO of the cd) via the newest trial version of parallel (build 1940). I have installed parallels, put my trial key in, and followed the setup for putting XP on OSX. When I click the start VM (green triangle, what ever its called) and I get an error that says cannot load of dvd/cd, email some guy (which I have, however have not heard a responce from him) and it fails at the code 00400019. Says hit any key to restart. I hit return and it keeps going in circles.

My mac is a macbook with the 2.00ghz duo core processor, with osx 10.4.8 1gb ram, 100gb HD

    *Edit.

The copy of windows that I am running off of has 5 copys of windows on it I guess (that is what the owner tells me) Is that possibly my problem?

You'll run into a problem with the numebr of Windows installs later, but that is not the problem you are facing.

You seem to be unable to boot off a supposedly bootable CD?
    (1) There are broken Windows install discs floating around made by Microsoft.... so you know. Parallels can not fix this if that is the problem.
    (2) Parallels requires a reboot before it will work correctly after you install it. The installer does not tell you this.
    (3) Can you post a screen-shot of the error so that we can see it? Use the Mac App "Grab" in Utilities to make a PNG, then convert that to JPEG with GIMP (or your image editiing program of choice), and upload.

    Similar problems

Tried to install Windows XP Pro (OEM) on my Intel C2D iMac using Paralles (build 1940). When I clicked start VM, I got error code 7 (can't read file ntkrnlmp.exe). Tried again and got the same. Next try I got error code 512 (can't read file hal.dll). Strange. I noted It took ages for the install disk to mount, so I used disk utility to make an ISO copy (.cdr) and pointed Paralles to it. Voilá! It worked. :)
